The son of Philip Barter is an accomplished artist in his own right. The following is anexcerpt from the Maine Sunday Telegram dated August 13, 2000.
Title: " Barter's Side Show' packed full of delightful surprises" by Valerie Cann
"By titling his exhibition at June Fizpatrick's Alternative Gallery "Matt Barter's Side Show," Barter creates the expectation that this is but a momentary diversion and a preview of the main event yet to come. If this is Barter's intention, he succeeds, because there is enough to engage our interest, delight our eye and make us look forward with anticipation to what comes next."
With many gallery exhibits and one man shows under his belt Matt's work is gaining recognition in the art community that has so warmly welcomed his father. His use of color and geometric form has distinguished him as unique and filled with surprises. Matt's background in the Arts is credited to his father's patient instruction and guidence that shows in his sensitive development of materials and subject matter.
With heritage like that we can anticipate many years of creative work.
Should anyone wish more information or background on Matt Barter the Gallery will beglad to provide it.
